SAVE THIS PRECIOUS HEARTBEAT FOR OUR PLANET

A SCOTS scientist on a voyage to Antartica has made an emotional plea for people to protect our "precious" natural world ahead of COP28.

Dr Rebecca Wade, a lecturer in environmental science at Abertay University in Dundee, spoke out against "destructive" human activities and man-made climate change which are destroying the planet.

The 52-year-old is part of an 88-strong all-women 19-day climate expedition to the South Pole region.

The voyage has been retracing the route around the Antarctic peninsula completed by Captain Robert Scott and Sir Ernst Shackleton onboard the RRS Discovery in 1901 producing research still used by climate scientists today.

And in a video message from Antartica on board the Ushuaia research ship Dr Wade urged Enivironment Reporter for action ahead of COP28 which starts today in Dubai.
