Scots nurse dies after taking the 'King Kong' of weight-loss drugs

The death of a Scottish nurse has been linked to an approved weight loss injection available on NHS.

Susan McGowan, from Airdrie, took two low-dose injections of tripeptide, branded as Mounjaro, before her death in September.

The 58-year-old's death certificate lists multiple organ failure, septic shock and pancreatitis as the immediate cause of death - but "the use of prescribed tripeptide" is also recorded on the document.

Susan, an NHS bed manager at Monklands Hospital in Airdrie, bought Mounjaro privately. But the drug, dubbed the "King Kong" of weight-loss jabs, last year began being rolled out to a quarter of a million NHS patients.

Susan's niece, Jade Campbell, who was with her when she died, told the BBC:
