Gutsy Scotland push World Cup finalists all way

SCOTLAND had England rattled as they fought back from two goals down to push for a leveller in the Stadium of Light.

Although England took the spoils in this opening Nations League clash, the Scots' spirited second-half performance will offer Pedro Martinez Losa's side heart for the campaign ahead.

Two goals in four first-half minutes from Lucy Bronze and Lauren Hemp should have sealed it for England.

But the superb Kirsty Hanson pulled Scotland back into it on the break.

The visitors looked up against it early on as the World Cup finalists took a firm grip of the game.

Caroline Weir was always likely to be Scotland's leading light with the Real Madrid midfielder at the heart of the best chance.
