START TALKING TO PREVENT A STRIKE

HUMZA Yousaf yesterday called on care home bosses to hold talks with workers to avoid strike action.

The First Minister has written to the Minster Care Group ahead of a possible walkout at three homes in Glasgow.

It follows a ballot of workers by the GMB union, which returned backing of 98 per cent for industrial action.

It would be the first strike at a care home in Scotland and comes after staff at facilities in Baillieston, Stobhill and Cardonald overwhelmingly rejected a pay offer.

Yousaf spoke out as the Cardonald home is in his Glasgow Pollok constituency.
