MOTORISTS shelled out nearly £1billion extra last year as supermarkets fattened their profits on forecourt sales, a damning probe has concluded.
The Competition and Markets Authority yesterday slammed the UK’s four biggest grocers, as well as rip-off prices at motorway services.
The regulator estimates from 2019-22, supermarkets made an extra 6p per litre on fuel, putting the cost to motorists at around £900million last year alone.
