SCOTLAND head coach Gregor Townsend is set to sign a two-year contract extension that will keep him in the role until at least 2025.
The new deal is being offered after Scottish Rugby chief executive Mark Dodson spoke to a number of high-profile coaches from across the globe about their interest in the job.
Among those approached was Warren Gatland, before he returned to the head coach job with Wales earlier this year, following the sacking of fellow New Zealander Wayne Pivac.
Gatland led Wales to four Six Nations titles - including three Grand Slams - during his previous stint in charge between 2007 and 2019.
