SCHOOL strikes could be back on the table after a revolt by local branches of the main trade union behind the industrial action.

Unison's Glasgow and Edinburgh branches urged their members to reject the latest offer by council bosses - in defiance of their national union bosses.

Council umbrella group Cosla and the unions were at loggerheads for months over a dispute on pay for local government workers.

Unison, the largest union in the sector, pushed for further targeted strikes in schools after their members rejected one of the offers.

But they suspended strike action this month after £17million was found to boost the offer.
