We are terrified & have nowhere to turn

A TERRIFIED mum who is on the run with her autistic daughter in England has told how she has been left with “nowhere to turn” as authorities close in on her.

Shona McIntyre, 43, fled her home in West Lothian last week after her 18-year-old daughter, Megan, was due to be sectioned at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.

She claims medics wanted to admit the teenager, who also has a learning disability, to the adult-only facility because she was struggling to eat.

However, hours before she was expected to be admitted, Shona made the decision to “protect her daughter” by travelling hundreds of miles south of the Border, where sections issued in Scotland are revoked.

The pair are now in hiding as Shona claims social workers are considering doing an adult assessment of the doting mum which could override her role as Megan’s guardian.

Shona fears authorities could track them and have Megan taken back to Scotland to be sectioned “against her own will”.
