LABOUR Prime Minister Keir Starmer is to push through the biggest boost to workers' rights in decades after his landslide election win.

A crackdown on bad bosses and an attack on poverty pay were the centrepiece of the Labour Government's first King's Speech.

More than 200,000 Scots will get a pay rise from a "genuine" living wage, while the Employment Rights Bill will: Ban exploitative zero-hour contracts.

End fire-and-rehire by greedy employers.

Give staff "day one" rights to parental leave, sick pay and protection from unfair dismissal.

Axe anti-trade union strike legislation.

King Charles read out the Starmer Government's legislative programme following the historic win over the Tories.

The monarch said the would be based on the principles of "security, fairness and opportunity for all".

Of the 39 Bills mentioned, 23 apply wholly or partly to Scotland.

Labour's "New Deal" for workers, which will be introduced within 100 days, was described by the Government as the "biggest upgrade" to employment rights in a generation.
