CONSIDERING that Mauricio Pochettino used to manage Harry Kane at Tottenham, you'd have thought he appreciates the worth of a world-class striker.
But it appears not, if the evidence of his time in charge of Chelsea so far is anything to go by.
The summer transfer window came and went and nothing much changed at the London club.
Okay, so Chelsea continued to blow the budget of a small nation on a raft of new, big-money signings.
But so what? This is now the norm at Stamford Bridge under the frivolous new ownership of Todd Boehly.
And once again, the powers-that-be decided Pochettino's rescue operation could continue without the help of a recognised goalscorer.
And the fact Chelsea own a proven one, in the shape of Romelu Lukaku (below) but decided to loan him out to AS Roma for the season, speaks volumes for how much importance the club places on the most precious and crucial commodity in the game.
