BARBIE. A movie about a doll. A film whose title is always followed by a rather fruity phrase in our house, the second word being "off".

Because that's the response from the husband whenever it's even hinted we go see it.

Not really a bloke's film, is it? On planet geezer Barbie would be dispatched on holiday to Rhodes where she'd promptly melt. Plastic not being so fantastic near fire.

It must, therefore, be almost entirely us dolly birds who are tottering off in our pink-clad ecstasy to watch the impossibly beautiful Margot Robbie pretend to be an impossibly beautiful toy. So many of us that Barbie the movie made $300million in its opening weekend. Smashing the much-more serious Oppenheimer epic about the man who invented the nuclear bomb.
