1 Bounty, a chocolate bar filled with shredded coconut, was launched in Britain by Mars in 1951. It was designed to rival the Mars bar, a similar snack sold by Hershey in the US.
2 Early adverts celebrated the “new chocolate thrill from the South Seas” and the treat became famous for its tagline: “The taste of paradise.”
3 In the 1970s and 1980s, cheeky TV adverts featured bare-chested blokes and bikini-clad women in tropical destinations. Their slogan was: “The Bounty hunters… they came in search of paradise.”
