HENRY VIII’s bad boy reputation as a bloodthirsty, bloated bed-hopper is fake news triggered by a 1930s movie, a history buff says.

Author Alison Weir reckons the Tudor king was an early victim of The Crown-style truth tinkering.

Henry was, in fact, a stickler for etiquette and a prude, she claims.

She says he was handsome, intelligent, romantic and cultural – despite marrying his brother’s wife, falling out with the Pope, bringing the country to its knees and executing two of his wives.
