JAMIE VARDY knows that fairy-tale endings in football happen all too rarely – yet he has experienced two already.
Taking a bloke out of a factory at the age of 24 who went on to star in the Premier League and for England would be stretching it.
That he would then lead an unfancied provincial club to Premier League and FA Cup glory is a second Disneystyle sporting miracle.
Don’t take my word for it – Vardy sold the film rights to his life story years ago.
The only reason it hasn’t been made is that his incredible rags-to-riches tale may still have a way to go.
If he can lead Leicester City to salvation in the Premier League this season, that will surely provide a fitting epitaph.
To recap, Vardy grew up in Sheffield, was rejected by his boyhood club Wednesday, played football part-time with his mates and was convicted for affray following a punch-up outside a nightclub before his aptitude in front of goal began to surface.
