JIMMY ANDERSON will stay on the Lord's payroll as a fast bowling mentor after his passing-out parade next week.

England's greatest bowler of all time makes his farewell appearance in the first Test against West Indies, turning his 188th cap into a testimonial to celebrate his 700 wickets.

Managing director Rob Key revealed the Burnley Express has accepted an offer to join England's backroom staff in a newly-created role as consultant to the next generation purveying swing and seam.

Following his emotional farewell at Lord's, Anderson will remain with the squad for the next two Tests with the Windies and the threematch series with Sri Lanka.

He has yet to decide whether to carry on playing county cricket for Lancashire.
