NOVAK DJOKOVIC fell to the floor and sobbed after winning his first Olympic gold medal the one big title that had always eluded him.

The Paris Games were likely his last shot at gold he will be 41 years old during Los Angles 2028.

And he made the most of it, beating Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 7-6 in a thriling two-hour and 50-minute contest.

It was Serbia's first-ever gold medal in tennis.

Djokovic is now the fifth player in history to win all four Grand Slam titles and Olympic gold and he said: "This probably is the biggest sporting success I've ever had.

The world No.2 added: "I thought that 2012 opening ceremony in London, carrying the flag for my country at the opening ceremony, was the best feeling that an athlete could have.
