MY oldest mate is a bragger.

She's always boasting about how popular and privileged she is. Rich men fall at her feet, they treat her to gifts and surprises.

She never has to pay for drinks or clothes and everything in her garden is rosy.

If she's not being whisked away to Paris for the weekend, she's being driven to an exclusive sex party for saucy fun with the great and the good.

I sit and nod as she shows off and swanks. I smile as she introduces me to yet another besotted lover and try to look interested as she parades a clutch of designer togs before my eyes.

What else am I supposed to do? She's so insensitive and crass I could scream. I have a tough life with little money, a tricky partner and challenging kids.

But she never stops to ask me how I'm doing or thinks before opening her mouth.
