Russell pays heavy price as Lewis profits

IT was a tiny measurement which had huge consequences for both Mercedes drivers.

For Lewis Hamilton, a 105th career victory his second this month after ending a 945-day wait for a win at Silverstone three weeks ago.

He will be even more glad for that, as this would have been an awful way for him to finally end that barren run.

Because it came at the expense of his team-mate George Russell, who had driven so masterfully at the Spa circuit in the warm Belgian sunshine.
