Chris to lead bowlers in new era

BEN STOKES will throw the new ball to Chris Woakes this morning, issuing a challenge to become the country’s spearhead.

England’s skipper has placed his trust in the Warwickshire seamer to fill the void left by legendary duo Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson.

This Test is the first time since 2012 that neither of the old guard will be playing, ushering in a new era.

And it is to Woakes that Stokes has turned to heap further misery on the Windies.

Stokes said: “This is an opportunity for Chris to take on more of a leadership role within the bowling unit. He’s a very experienced bowler.
