TENS of millions of lives will be at risk if Vladimir Putin is allowed to reimpose a blockade on grain exports from Ukraine, its president Volodymyr Zelensky warned today.
He appealed to the West to respond firmly to any Russian attempts to disrupt Ukraine's grain export corridor, as more ships were loading despite Moscow suspending its participation in a United Nations-brokered deal.
Since it was agreed on July 22, it has provided safe passage for vessels carrying grain and other fertiliser exports through the Black Sea.
But Mr Putin pulled out of the deal over the weekend after drone strikes on Russian military vessels in the Bay of Sevastopol, off annexed Crimea.
