JOHN STONES today handed Gareth Southgate a major boost by returning to training today ahead of Sunday's Euro 2024 opener against Serbia.
Stones's readiness for that fixture has been a major question mark over the past fortnight. The defender picked up an ankle injury in last week's friendly defeat by Iceland, but appeared to be back on track when rejoining training in Germany on Tuesday, only to then sit out yesterday's session because of illness.
However, the Manchester City centre-back was back on the field here in Blankenhain this morning (right) as all 26 squad members trained.
