Chetak helps Bajaj lead the race

WHEN RAJIV BAJAJ took his latest swipe (Ola to Ola hai, Chetak to shola hai) at his not-so-favorite competitor at an award function this month, it was not an empty boast. Riding high on the Chetak, Bajaj Auto became the biggest disruptor in the electric two-wheeler (E2W) space this year, clocking the steepest growth among the top three manufacturers.

The Pune-based company saw the retail volumes of Chetak grow 164% year-on-year to little over 175,000 units during the January-November period. This is more than twice that of segment leader Ola Electric, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association.
