INDICTMENT CAN'T TRUMP PREZ PROSPECTS

The Trump case & indictment

INDICTMENT IS LAYING out of written charges against a person, which have been approved by a grand jury (consisting of 23 persons who examine the existence of probable causes that a person has committed a crime). A simple majority (12) is required, while a trial requires unanimity.

Trump, his aides and his campaign were investigated for a raft of potential offences-violating US citizens' right to a free and fair election (Constitutional and federal offence), alleged pecuniary gains from claims of election fraud they knew to be false, submission of fake lists of ineligible voters to challenge the results in some US states.

Importantly, also probed was whether Trump pressured then-vice-president Mike Pence to illegally delay the Congress in confirming the result.

The charges

FOUR CHARGES HAVE been laid against Trump, in connection with his actions in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential polls: conspiracy to defraud the US, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempting to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against the rights of people of the US.
