3 held for selling infant for ₹1.5 lakh, mother among accused

Three people have been arrested for allegedly selling one-month-old son of one of the accused to a Bengaluru resident for ₹1.5 lakh, police said on Tuesday, adding that the mother claimed to have sold her son due to financial difficulties and her husband's inability to provide for the family.

BENGALURU:

Circle inspector of Ramanagara Town M Krishna said that Nasreen Taj had sold her son, Mohammad Ali Baig, to a Bengaluru resident for ₹1.5 lakh in Yarab Nagar, Ramanagara. The infant was rescued and handed over to the District Child Protection Unit, while efforts are underway to locate the fourth accused, who remained absconding.
