NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has informed the Delhi high court about the measures it has been taking to prevent encroachment on main Chandni Chowk Road, including deploying security personnel, maintaining surveillance through 100 CCTV cameras, and taking legal action against encroachers in the area.
In its affidavit filed on December 9, the Delhi Police also stated that in cooperation with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and other stakeholders, regular action is being taken against unauthorised vendors/hawkers in the non-hawking zones, roads, pavements, outside shops and religious places. It has also designated station house officers of the police station concerned as nodal officers for carrying out anti-encroachment drives, and sensitised local beat officers to deal with the aspect of illegal encroachment.
