PM Modi to lay foundation stone of ₹40K-cr canal project in Jaipur today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dadia village in Jaipur to lay the foundation stone of the interlinked Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) and Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal project that is likely to ensure the drinking and irrigation water for millions across 21 districts of the state, on Tuesday, said officials.

JAIPUR:

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for construction work of Ramgarh Barrage and Mahalpur Barrage and a system for transfer of water from Navnera Barrage to Bisalpur Dam and Isarda Dam through aqueduct on Chambal River at a cost of over ₹9,400 crore," the government said in a statement.

A tripartite MoU was signed on February 4 in New Delhi for preparation of joint DPR of the East Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), between the Centre, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh governments.

ERCP is an ambitious project of over ₹40,000 crore which will help augment irrigation facilities in an area of around 2 lakh hectares in 13 districts of Rajasthan - Jhalawar, Baran, Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Dhaulpur, Bharatpur, Dause, Alwar, Jaipur and Ajmer.
