LUCKNOW: The accused then posed as astrologers to engage victims in conversation before fleeing with their jewellery and mobile phones.
"The accused admitted during interrogation that they roamed the area, looking for elderly people and women to deceive."
One member would approach the victim asking for an address, while another posed as an astrologer or saint from Haridwar, speaking about family problems to gain their trust," said DCP East Shashank Singh.
The arrested suspects, identified as Aslam (41), his brother Akram (28), and their relative Ahmed (38), all residents of Barabanki, have been sent to jail.
