A year of hits and misses for CM Sharma
Hindustan Times Rajasthan|December 15, 2024
NEW DELHI: The first year of chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma's government in Rajasthan has been marked by hits, notably the Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit, the crackdown on question paper leaks, and victory in the recent assembly bypolls.

However, the government has had its fair share of misses, including the failure to rein in corruption, the lack of a transparent transfer policy for government employees, lack of coordination among ministers and inexperience of ministers impacting governance.

Sharma's announcement as chief minister caught many by surprise. Leaders and analysts alike wondered how the first-time MLA with little administrative experience would run the state. The opposition took digs at Sharma, saying he was getting parchis (chits) from Delhi to run the government.

BJP leader Rajendra Rathore said Sharma has taken several significant decisions in one year that will strengthen the economy of Rajasthan. "The government successfully conducted the Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit which saw MoUs worth ₹35 lakh crore..." he said.
