Retd ANM abducted from Jamui, murdered after gang rape at Banka

A retired auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) from Bhagalpur's Sultanganj police station area was allegedly kidnapped from Jamui district and later gang-raped and murdered in Banka district, police said on Friday.

Five individuals, including a close relative of the victim, have been arrested in connection with the incident. The accused had beheaded the victim, dismembering the body into three parts. Two of the body parts were buried on the bank of a local river near the Badua River, under the jurisdiction of Belhar police station in Banka, and have now been recovered.

Police said that the 66-year-old woman, a native of Sultanganj police station area of Bhagalpur district, left her home on December 27. Till late evening when she did not return home, her husband, Sudhir Prasad a PDS dealer, tried to trace her whereabouts but could not trace her.
