Security beefed up outside JSSC office

Over 2,500 police personnel have been deployed around the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) office in Namkum, which has been fortified with three-layer security and barricading within a 200-meter radius, as students began arriving in Ranchi to stage a protest against the alleged mishandling by the agency during the combined graduate level (CGL) examination held on September 21 and 22.

The examination was conducted at more than 800 centers to select more than 2000 candidates.

"Over 2,500 police personnel have been deputed around the JSSC office. Three-layer security has been provided to the JSSC office to ensure agitating students cannot reach the office. Barricading has been set up in the 200-meter periphery of the JSSC office," a police official said.

Senior superintendent of police Chandan Kumar Sinha confirmed the fact.

"We do not share strategic details, but we have provided three-layer security to the JSSC office," SSP Sinha said. Asked whether any preventive arrests had also been made, SSP Sinha said, "No."

A police official in Hazaribagh said there is a directive to arrest student leaders before they reach Ranchi.
