Make arrangements to deal with stray cattle during mega fair: Govt

LUCKNOW: Authorities in Uttar Pradesh are deeply concerned about the potential menace posed by stray cattle in the Mahakumbh mela area where millions of devotees are expected to gather daily for a month-and-a-half starting January 13.

The state government has issued a directive to the mela administration, asking it to make comprehensive arrangements to deal with stray cattle, including bulls, entering the crowded mela zone.

Recognising the risk of potential stampedes during the massive congregation by entry of stray cattle, bulls etc, the government emphasised the use of cattle catchers and tranquillizers as preventive measures.
