Jammu & Kashmir Police on Sunday announced cash rewards ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹12.5 lakh for information on presence of terrorists, trans-border tunnels, drones, supply of narcotics and terror activities.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, police said the general public can share the information with district superintendents of police. "The identity of the person will be kept secret," it said.
The development comes amid a spate of targeted killings by terrorists, sparking concerns over the security situation in the Union territory.
On December 24, a retired superintendent of police was shot dead by terrorists inside a mosque in Baramulla district. The attack came days after four soldiers were killed and three were injured in an ambush at Dhatyar Morh in Surankote on December 21.
The police announced a reward of ₹2 to ₹12.5 lakh for information leading to action against terrorists. "Whoever gives specific information about presence of terrorists, resulting in successful operation leading to arrest or combat, cash reward will be provided as per category i.e A-B-C (of terrorists)," it said.
