NEW DELHI:
The Capital last received rain on October 12 last year, when the city's base weather station at Safdarjung logged 0.4mm of rainfall.
Since then, Delhi hasn't received any rain at all.
Met officials said that though north India was impacted western disturbances November and December, they were mostly feeble.
"It is not that western disturbances have been missing this winter, but either they have been feeble and rarely influenced Delhi, or they have been far from the Capital and only brought cloudiness and no rain.
Normally, we see one or two spells of light rain between November and December each year, but these were missing in 2022," said RK Jenamani, scientist at IMD.
Thursday's rain, if any, will be thanks to a western disturbance currently influencing the region until January 13 (Friday), said Met officials.
