Shah: BJP won't allow religion-based quota

Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday declared the BJP would not permit religion-based reservation for minorities, saying such provisions are absent from the Constitution drafted by BR Ambedkar.

Speaking at rallies in Potka and Chatarpur in poll-bound Jharkhand, Shah criticised Congress for what he said was the opposition party's promise of 10% Muslim reservation in Maharashtra. "They will give it by cutting reservation percentage of tribals, scheduled castes, OBCs and Dalits. They have done this in Karnataka and Telangana," he said.
