A kiss that shows Alzheimers cannot beat 60yrs of love

A COUPLE renewed their vows on their 60th anniversary yesterday as part of an effort to show there is life after a dementia diagnosis.

Vincent Kelly said ‘I do’ all over again with wife Bríd, who has suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for a number of years.

The ceremony took place ahead of the annual Alzheimer’s Memory Walk this Sunday, as efforts continue to find a cure for the condition.

Vincent and Brid’s vow renewal took place at the Alzheimer Society of Ireland’s (ASI) Curlew Road Day Care Centre in Dublin.

Now his wife’s primary carer, Vincent urged those present to donate to the centre, which he said had made a “significant difference” in their lives.

He said: “Brid enjoys being at the Centre; she loves the music and learning new songs.

“Everyone I have come into contact with at The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is exceptional, and we want to give back to Curlew Road Daycare Centre for all the support they have given us.
