A PSNI officer was gunned down last night - minutes after coaching a youth football team.
It is thought up to 70 young people were at the sports facility in Omagh, Co Tyrone, when the gunmen fired up to 10 rounds.
A PSNI spokesman said: "One man, a serving police officer, has been taken to hospital for treatment after being injured in a shooting incident at a sports complex just before 8pm this evening."
It is understood the officer was not on duty when he was attacked by gunmen who then fled across the border. Gardai have confirmed they are also investigating.
