Locals' fortunes were buoyed by the initial €15million investment that the 76-year-old made when he bought a hotel there in 2014.
An estimated 300 people are now employed at the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel and shuttle buses transport guests into Doonbeg's pubs and cafes all year round.
Some locals were yesterday fiercely protective of Trump when contacted. ahead of his expected arrival there today.
