Drone accused banned from going near airport

A MAN accused of causing a security alert by flying a drone over Dublin Airport has been told to stay more than 2km away from the hub.

Gardai arrested 41-year-old Ainis Guzauskus yesterday afternoon.

He is accused of knowingly causing a false alarm by flying an unmanned aerial system [a drone] into the critical area of Dublin Airport, which interfered with the operation of an aerodrome on July 2, 2022.

The accused appeared before Judge John Hughes at a late sitting of Dublin District Court.

He was remanded on bail pending further directions from the DPP to appear again on March 21 and has been ordered to obey further conditions, including a ban on flying drones.
