First show after Tubs exit | Callan: We wish him well

OLIVER Callan said it was “unfortunate” to be marking the end of an era - as he began the first RTE Radio One show without Ryan Tubridy’s name and theme tune. 

Last week director general Kevin Bakhurst announced there were no plans for the former Late Late host to return – stating trust had “broken down” in negotiations.

Comedian Callan kicked off a new week of programming in the 9am slot yesterday by telling listeners “there is a sense of wrong” Tubridy will not return.

He then confirmed the show will go on as the Nine O’Clock Show with a new jingle.

Callan, who has been one of the hosts covering the slot in Tubridy since news of the RTE payments scandal broke in June, began the show by saying: “Things sound a little different today.
