OWEN FARRELL'S World Cup spot remains under threat as World Rugby prepare to appeal against the England star's shock reprieve.

Rugby's bosses have received the written judgement from Tuesday's disciplinary hearing when Farrell escaped a suspension for his red card against Wales by a judicial panel.

And World Rugby could trigger an objection and put Farrell's France 2023 campaign in jeopardy.

The governing body had 48 hours to pull the pin on challenging the decision, after getting the judgement yesterday to give the fly-half the all-clear.

Farrell was set to be banned for at least four matches before the about-turn by the all-Australian disciplinary panel, potentially banning him from England's first two pool matches against Argentina and Japan.
