Islamic funeral in Ireland is welcome

A LEADING figure in the Irish Muslim community has said Sinead O’Connor could be given an Islamic funeral here in accordance with her religious beliefs

Dr Ali Selim of Dublin’s Islamic Cultural Centre said while the late singer’s family has yet to contact the mosque to arrange her funeral, he said she would be welcome.

Dr Selim told us: “Of course if she is Muslim and it is approved by her family, I would be delighted to facilitate Islamic funeral procedures for her.

“She did embrace Islam and she was very proud of being a Muslim. She spoke publicly about embracing Islam.
