KEEPING FAITH

CIARA MAGEEAN hasn't been able to watch her smashing of Sonia O'Sullivan's long-standing Irish mile record in Monaco.

TV cameras were focused on Faith Kipyegon's latest world-record run in that. Diamond League race last month and so Portaferry's world championships medal hopeful has put out a request for footage of her own run - if it exists.

"I'd be delighted to watch it, Mageean admitted. "I tried to but it's obviously all on Faith. I featured very little.

"You can see me rounding the bend and finishing like a train after her last 100 in some footage. I would've liked to have got to watch it all."

She hasn't met O'Sullivan since breaking the Cobh woman’s record that stood for 29 years with her remarkable 4:14.58 time.
