THE Emmet Mullin-strained favourited Teed Up looks the horse to beat in this evening's Connacht Hotel (Amateur) Handicap, €110,000 feature at the opening session of the seven-day Galway Festival.
The six-year-old, owned by the Mee family - who enjoy nothing more than success at Ballybrit, doesn't appeal much in terms of betting value. But he ticks a lot of boxes in this ultra-competitive handicap over an extended two miles.
Teed Up is a course specialist, having won on three of his five visits to Galway, two (over an extended mile) when trained by Ken Condon and, last year, a handicap hurdle for present connections, having finished second in a similar contest two days earlier.
