'WE'RE SORRY HE WASN'T STOPPED'

THE Carmelite Order has apologised over the sickening sex abuse carried out by paedophile John McClean at Terenure College.

The disgraced rugby coach has been handed a four-year prison sentence for the sexual abuse of 22 boys at the Dublin school over a 20-year period.

McClean, 78, of Casimir Avenue, Harold's Cross, South Dublin, is already serving an eight-year sentence for abusing 23 Terenure College pupils. That sentence was handed down in 2021.

Judge Martin Nolan yesterday sentenced him to four years in prison which will run consecutively to his current prison sentence and will begin when that sentence is served in February 2027.
