MAX VERSTAPPEN suffered a power problem as his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez took a surprise pole position for today’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Verstappen’s driveshaft failed in the second qualifying session , and the world champion will line up 15th.
But Lewis Hamilton suffered another under whelming evening as his miser y continued in Jeddah, where he will start in seventh.
The seven-time world champion had painted a bleak picture about where his Mercedes team stand ahead of the second race of the season.
Hamilton could only watch in disappointment as Red Bull dominated the season-opener in Bahrain two weeks ago.
And he fared little better here with even team-mate George Russell outqualifying him again. Russell will start third.
