JOY FOR SOME OASIS FANS WHILE OTHERS LOOK BACK IN ANGER

As our city was soaked in sunshine, Oasis fans had more important matters on their minds. Earlier this week, Noel and Liam Gallagher announced that they had put their acrimonious split behind them, confirming the band’s long-awaited reunion by saying: “The great wait is over.”

But as tickets for the legendary band’s comeback tour went on sale on Saturday morning, it felt like the wait was only just beginning.

In the mad dash to buy tickets, fans spent hours battling technical issues and huge queues as booking sites struggled to cope with the huge demand.

Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours and See Tickets all appeared to experience issues as fans flooded the sites when tickets went on sale. Around 14 million people are said to have joined the scramble for 1.4 million tickets for 17 shows across the UK and Ireland, including five dates at Manchester’s Heaton Park.

As fans grew despondent at the long queues and websites ‘crashing’, many feared they had missed their opportunity to watch the Gallagher brothers perform together for the first time in 15 years. But after staring at their screens in frustration for what must have felt like an eternity, the tears of despair began to turn to joy.
