A DAD told the mother of two of his children told her ‘I’ll strangle the life out of you’ as he throttled her following almost four years of abuse.
Lee Ellison, 43, has now been jailed for the attack – and for coercive and controlling behaviour towards his former partner.
A court heard he called her a ‘sl*g’ and told her she was a ‘p**s stain [on] society’.
Manchester Crown Court heard Ellison and his victim Sarah Etchells were in a relationship for more than 20 years and had two children.
Ms Etchells is named here by the Manchester Evening News with her consent. Wayne Jackson, prosecuting, told the court that in 2018, Ellison’s ‘behaviour in the house descended into criminal behaviour in a number of ways’.
He said Ellison would ‘constantly’ ask for money for cannabis, which Ms Etchells felt compelled to give him to ‘avoid him becoming angry and aggressive’.
He would ‘constantly criticise her about her driving and parenting’.
Ellison was ‘extremely insecure’ about her checking her phone and accused her of ‘attempting to illicit male attention’.
In an excerpt from a statement penned by Ms Etchells, the court heard her describe their children as ‘pawns in his narcissistic game’.
“He gaslights me, calls me a p**s stain [on] society,” she said. “It feels as though it’s groundhog day.
