Judge rules that killer teenagers CAN be identified in public interest

THE teenagers found guilty of murdering Prince Walker-Ayeni in Moss Side have faced justice.

Two boys, both 16, were convicted of murdering the 17-year-old, who was stabbed three times as he was chased through the streets.

Prince died days before his 18th birthday. Minshull Street Crown Court heard two groups – one made up of the two defendants and the other made up of Prince and a friend – bumped into each other by chance on Raby Street, Moss Side on April 4.

Within minutes a scuffle broke out and Prince and his friend ran away.

One of the boys – known as Boy 1 – stabbed Prince, as the second defendant – known as Boy 2 – also chased him. The pair fled and left Prince to die. The boys cannot be named for legal reasons.

Boy 1 and Boy 2 denied murder, claiming they acted in self-defence. But following a three-week trial, which ended in November, both were found guilty by a jury.
