The Irish Nation art trail features artwork created by mosaic artist Mark Kennedy depicting 17 Irish personalities from the world of literature, music, sport and history, including Sinead O'Connor, George Best, Shane McGowan and Oscar Wilde.
Across March, they will be located at venues including Central Library, Afflecks, the National Football Museum, Royal Exchange Theatre and New Century Hall.
Visitors will be able to scan a QR code at each of the works to find out more.
The trail will include a mosaic of architect and furniture designer Eileen Gray at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre. She was overlooked for a long time as she worked in a male-dominated Modernist movement.
Artwork of boxing champion Katie Taylor is at Northern Quarter venue Koffee Pot.
