The killings happened before the game and the victims were reported to be Sweden fans, wearing their nation’s football shirts.
The gunman was still at large when the Euro 2024 qualifier kicked off, but fans and players were ordered to stay in the stadium for their safety and eventually, the decision was made to abandon the contest mid-game.
The stadium was evacuated and Sweden’s team were escorted to the airport by police, with their fans also accompanied by police into the city.
